2022 Invention of the Year Award by UF Innovate: AI-based software for automated zoning review, building plan review and virtual building inspection
2022 - Standing InnOvation, initiated in 2018, applauds University of Florida (UF) innovators for their contributions in disclosing, licensing, and optioning technologies. In the fiscal year ending June 30, 310 technologies were disclosed, 124 licensed, and 10 companies launched. Among these, the Virtual Building Construction Inspection for Permitting, developed by Ravi Srinivasan and Nawari Nawari from the College of Design, Construction, and Planning, received the Invention of the Year Award. Their AI-based software enhances zoning and building plan reviews, ensuring rapid, accurate, and consistent code compliance. Srinivasan and Nawari are the first in their college to receive this prestigious award from UF Innovate.
Dr. Nawari served as a University of Florida professor in the College of Design, Construction, and Planning (DCP), School of Architecture. Later, Dr. Nawari and Rob Christy, a Tampa entrepreneur and veteran of the construction permit servicing industry founded AutoReview.AI transforming the way code compliance checks are reviewed using patent-pending technologies.
